Where are you from?

Dallas, TX

Please describe an experience (or 2) that helped you discover/cultivate your interest in the mathematical sciences.

I first took an interest in math in first grade when my mother purchased a booklet full of multiplication tables. The pictures and shapes really intrigued me, so I completed the book within 2 days. From then on, I joined the math club and won my first trophy in a math competition. Winning and edging out a little boy made me proud.

What is/are your most proud accomplishment(s) regarding your career in the mathematical sciences?

Definitely earning my PhD! It was more of a mental battle than anything. It was a feat that helped me to realize I can achieve anything that I work hard to obtain. My grades were not always the best and even had to take an undergrad course to “catch up” but I knew there was a standard to meet and exceed. That same mental toughness is what I use to complete projects within my career.

What is/are your most proud accomplishment(s) regarding your personal life?

My family! My husband and daughter are my passion. They support me and love me which helps me to continue pushing through the hard times. My parents and bonus parents, siblings, extended family, and close friends have always been a stable support system.

Please share some words of wisdom/inspiration.

Never ever give up on yourself. New challenges are just that, a challenge but you have to seek the positive which is that there is always a lesson to be learned.
