Where are you from?

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Please describe an experience (or 2) that helped you discover/cultivate your interest in the mathematical sciences.

Mathematics was always one of the only subjects in school that had definitive answers. I really enjoyed that aspect of it. Realizing that I could use it to improve patients’ lives set me on the path to pursue it in my career.

What is/are your most proud accomplishment(s) regarding your career in the mathematical sciences?

I’m proud to be a part of one of the top cancer centers in America, developing predictive mathematical models that have the potential to be incorporated into clinical trials to improve patient care.

What is/are your most proud accomplishment(s) regarding your personal life?

I’m extremely proud that my kids have been here to see the journey, from graduate school to now. My 10-year-old sees the value in hard work and never giving up, despite the challenges along the way.

Please share some words of wisdom/inspiration.

Keep pushing. Never be afraid to ask a question. Seek out mentors in whatever you do. They’ll help to shape the path of your life.
